How to Know if Information is Accurate?

Use the EVAFACT method! When you see information, ask yourself these seven key questions. If all of them are yes, you can reasonably say that the information is likely accurate.

E: Emotivity
Is the language used free of emotions?

V: Variety
Are multiple other high quality sources corroborating the information?

A: Agency
Is the primary purpose to inform rather than persuade?

F: Factuality
Is the assertion supported by evidence?

A: Authority
Does the source tend to have a good track record of being reliable?

C: Currency
Is the content up to date?

T: Traceability
Can the original source of the claim being made be found?
